A brutal murder has been reported from the Amra Beria Khan Para area of Canning, where the body of a 33-year-old man was recovered from a pond on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Sanarul Sheikh, a daily wage labourer who had gone missing several days earlier, triggering concern among family members and locals.
According to family members, Sanarul left his home on the afternoon of January 25, 2026, stating that he was heading out for work. When he failed to return and could not be contacted, the family lodged a missing person complaint at the Canning Police Station, prompting a search. The case took a grim turn when local residents spotted a body floating in a pond in the Amra Beria area and alerted the authorities. Police reached the spot soon after, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Police officials said the condition of the body clearly indicated that Sanarul had been murdered using a sharp weapon before being dumped into the pond. Preliminary findings suggest the killing was deliberate and carried out with intent to conceal the crime. Locals have claimed that the murder may have been triggered by a money-related dispute. Police are also probing possible family or financial angles, though no arrests have been made so far. An investigation is underway to establish the motive and identify those responsible.
